Biography

Dr. Justin Mobley is an Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Sales Representative for Bruker BioSpin covering the Southeast United States. Originally from Richmond, Kentucky, Dr. Mobley completed his B.S. in Chemistry at Western Kentucky University and first joined UK as a Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) scholar with Dr. Jack Selegue in 2009. Dr. Mobley subsequently attended UK for his Ph.D. (Chemistry) with studying under Dr. Mark Crocker. Throughout that time, Dr. Mobley studied lignin valorization over heterogeneous catalysts, and during his final year of study was asked to be the Graduate Assistant NMR Center Manager. Upon graduation in spring 2016, Dr. Mobley joined the University of Wisconsin – Madison (Biochemistry) and Great Lakes Bioenergy Research Center as a postdoctoral research associate, under the tutelage of Dr. John Ralph, where his research focused on biomass upgrading to fine chemicals. He was awarded a patent on his work on the synthesis of acetaminophen from biomass precursors. While doing his postdoc Dr. Mobley also worked for the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF) as an Ambassador and Tech Transfer Liaison. In 2017, Dr. Mobley joined the University of Kentucky as the NMR Center Director and was promoted to Adjunct Faculty status in 2018. In February of 2020, Dr. Mobley left the University of Kentucky to pursue a career in sales with Bruker BioSpin. His personal interest includes basketball, cars, and chasing his two year old son.
